16 DAYS!!!

SVENSKA

Sorry about the image errors on the last post, i'm still sort of figuring this whole html thing out..

Leslie suggested that I blog about some Swedish designers and I happily complied considering I LOVE both of these designers. Swedish high fashion seems to have a very specific aesthetic but it's not limiting in any way. What I love about all of these is the skilled tailoring, the attention to detail is really amazing.

"Well, at the time it seemed like 10,000, but I think it was closer to 5,000 books. The complete installation took me ten days, from start to finish. When I arrived at the gallery on the first day, I looked at the 16' by 44' wall and wondered what I had gotten myself into. I guess I needed that sort of anxiety to propel me through the next week and a half."

This jacket/shirt combination is really simple but really striking, the sheen of the blazer compliments the nude shirt in an interesting way:

This outfit is flawless. I love how relaxed it looks and the proportions are perfect. I guess i'm just automatically attracted to anything remotely menswear inspired. I usually hate pointed heels but theyreally work well here:

Rough

I couldn't fall asleep last night so I can't really tell if I'm awake or asleep while I'm writing this...blogging is mildly addictive. Today was really shitty.

Random runway stuff & Raf Simons & Dr. Martens Collabo

Raf Simons Fall/Winter 2009

Givenchy Fall/Winter 2009
Riccardo Tisci is dominating menswear, I'm completely obsessed with both collections. The lace up leather pants are genius.

Rick Owens Fall 2009
I love the geometric tailoring and irregular proportions..

Alexander Wang Spring 2009

Ann Demeulemeester Spring 2009

RAF SIMONS & DR. MARTENS COLLABO....EPIC.

"Ideas worth spreading"...

WADE DAVIS: BRILLIANT MAN, RIDICULOUS PICTURE.

I think i've watched this lecture about a million times:
(I know you're thinking "fuck this....22 minutes..".... honestly it's worth it)

Shit knife...hahahaha

SLEEP DEPRIVATION

It seems like my mind and body are operating completely independently from each other. My body is exhausted and dying to sleep but my mind seems to have endless energy. My racing thoughts are making it completely impossible to fall asleep. Lack of sleep is probably not the best way to start off the week. Bleh... I just want to know where i'm going to college. SO tired of waiting.

Lately I have had a lot of new ideas for art which is really refreshing because after applications I was completely creatively drained. Now its just a matter of getting the initiative to actually start some new projects. I'm planning on doing a collaborative installation with another girl at my school so hopefully that works out. I've never done an installation so I'm interested to see how our composite ideas will manifest themselves. I like the idea of immersing the viewer into an environment/situation. Installations seem to be one of the most interactive art forms because they force the viewer to become a part of the piece/environment, making the artist's vision more relatable.
